What to choose: Swaddle vs. SleepSack
Both a sleepsack and a swaddle are used to help babies feel secure and comfortable while sleeping, but they serve different purposes and have distinct designs:
Swaddle: A swaddle is a type of cloth wrap used to tightly swaddle a newborn or young infant. It involves snugly wrapping the baby's arms and torso to mimic the feeling of being in the womb. Swaddling is believed to help prevent the startle reflex in infants, promoting better sleep by making them feel secure and comforted. It can also help regulate body temperature and reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) by preventing loose blankets from covering the baby's face. Swaddles are typically used in the early months of a baby's life, usually up to around three to four months old, depending on the baby's development and preferences.
Sleepsack (or Sleep Sack): A sleepsack, on the other hand, is a wearable blanket or sleeping bag designed for infants and young children. It comes in various sizes to accommodate different age groups. The sleepsack allows the baby to have their arms free and is not meant for swaddling. It is worn over the baby's sleepwear and provides warmth and comfort while ensuring there are no loose blankets that could pose suffocation risks. Sleepsacks are often used beyond the swaddling stage and are suitable for babies who can roll over and have more control of their movements.
How to transition to Wearable Blanket
How to transition to Wearable Blanket
When your baby shows signs of breaking free from the SleepSack Swaddle or rolling over, it’s time to discontinue swaddling. To make the transition easier, we recommend gradually transitioning your little one to the SleepSack Wearable Blanket. You can do this by swaddling your baby for a few nights with one arm out, then two arms out of the swaddle. Your baby will still have the secure feeling of the swaddle while gradually adjusting to having his arms free.

Choosing the Right Fabric
Choosing the right fabric for your baby is important to ensure their comfort, safety, and overall well-being. When considering fabrics for your baby's clothing, bedding, or accessories, there are several key factors to keep in mind. Let's explore them in detail!
These are the key factors to consider when looking for the right fabric for your baby:
- Softness: Babies have delicate and sensitive skin, so it's crucial to choose fabrics that are soft and gentle. Look for fabrics like cotton, bamboo, or organic blends, which are known for their soft texture. Test the fabric by touching it against your own skin. If it feels soft and smooth, it's likely to be comfortable for your baby.
- Breathability: Babies are prone to overheating, so selecting breathable fabrics is essential. Fabrics that allow air circulation help regulate body temperature and prevent excessive sweating. Natural fibers like cotton and bamboo are highly breathable and suitable for babies. Hold the fabric up to light and see how much light passes through. Fabrics that allow more light to pass through are generally more breathable.
- Durability: Babies can be messy and active, so it's important to choose fabrics that can withstand frequent washing and wear. Look for fabrics that are durable and can maintain their quality even after multiple washes. Examine the fabric closely for signs of quality. Look for tightly woven fibers and sturdy construction, such as reinforced seams or double stitching.
- Hypoallergenic properties: Some babies may have sensitive skin or allergies, so opting for hypoallergenic fabrics can help minimize the risk of irritation or allergic reactions. Fabrics like organic cotton or bamboo are often hypoallergenic and less likely to cause skin issues. Check the fabric's label or product description for indications of hypoallergenic properties. Fabrics labeled as organic or certified as hypoallergenic are generally safe choices.
Determining suitability for your baby's skin and allergies:
- Consider your baby's skin sensitivity: Observe how your baby's skin reacts to different fabrics. If your baby has shown sensitivity to certain materials in the past, it's best to avoid those fabrics and opt for hypoallergenic options instead.
- Test for allergies: If your baby has known allergies, consult with a pediatrician or allergist to determine which fabrics are safe. They may recommend specific fabrics or advise you to avoid certain materials that could trigger allergic reactions.
- Gradual introduction: When introducing a new fabric, start with a small piece or clothing item to see how your baby's skin reacts. Monitor for any signs of irritation, redness, or discomfort. If there are no adverse reactions, you can continue using that fabric.
Remember, every baby is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. Pay attention to your baby's cues and consult with healthcare professionals if you have specific concerns about your baby's skin or allergies.

What should my baby wear underneath?
What should my baby wear underneath?
It is essential to dress your baby appropriately underneath the sleepsack or swaddle, depending on the room temperature. Use lightweight, breathable clothing, such as a onesie or a light cotton sleeper, in warm weather. In colder temperatures, opt for a warmer sleeper or footed pajamas.
